[Also in Division C5] A catalyst for enhancing lubricating oils by hydrogenation which comprises at least one group VI metal, oxide or sulphide and at least one group VIII metal, oxide or sulphide supported on an alumina carrier and containing a halogen. The total groups VI and VIII metals content must be at least 20 per cent with a ratio of VI to VIII of 2.25:1 to 6:1. Specifications 928,761 and 928,762 are referred to.
