Abstract

1,178,678. Bird-scarer. R. C. BROWN. 27 Nov., 1967 [25 Aug., 1966], No. 38088/66. Heading A1E. A bird scarer includes two arms 17, 18 freely rotatable on a rod 11 which is mounted on a support 13, 14, 15, a vane 19 being pivotally secured to each arm 17, 18 on each side of the rod, each vane being pivotal to an operative position (as shown) in which its surface is subjected to wind and to an inoperative position in which it is not subjected to wind such that the arms 17, 18 rotate in one direction only. The device may be suspended by a hook 16 or mounted on a pole 23 and the support member 13 may be provided with cotton bobbins 31 to anchor the device e.g. in the ground. The surfaces of the arms 17, 18 may be shiny.
