Concrete building elements are hardened by applying sub-atmospheric pressure to tubular passages provided in the elements or in the shuttering and which contain woven metal tubes and by electrically heating these passages. The heating current is passed either through the woven metal or through spirally wound heating wires which are provided inside or outside the woven metal tubes and which also serve as supporting framework for the tubes. As an alternative to the spirally wound heating wires, the woven metal tubes can be provided with supporting rings.
