Abstract
117,667. Calthrop, E. R. July 24, 1917. Concrete ships; bulkheads; decks . - Floatable concrete structures of the kind described in Specification 22099/10, [Class 68 (ii). Subaqueous buildings &c.], and consisting of vertical hexagonal cells of reinforced concrete mechanioally vibrated whilst in situ, are provided on the exterior surface with a further reinforcement comprising horizontal rods d having offset or indented portions d', and vertical rods, bars, or channel members formed with eyes or holes to receive the rods d, the whole reinforcement lying in horizontal and vertical grooves formed in the face of the concrete and being tied therein by wires e embedded in the concrete. An outer concrete facing is applied to fill the grooves and form a smooth exterior. Bulkheads, decks, and partitions of ships may be similarly reinforced. The rods ma.y be connected at their crossing points by a strap m, Fig. 6, and a wedge n.
