Abstract

1,173,633. Doctor blades. LODDING ENG. CORP. 6 Sept., 1967 [14 Sept., 1966], No. 40670/67. Heading D1L. A doctor blade, particularly for use in coating paper, has areas of reduced strength in the opposite free ends of its working portion to increase its flexibility in these portions. The strength reduction may be achieved by cutting slits, grinding scores or punching holes in the ends of the blade, or by weakening at its ends the material of which it is made. When holes are punched they may be covered to prevent liquids flowing through them.
