1,173,522. Preparation of acrylamide copolymers. FERRANIA S.p.A. 22 Feb., 1967 [8 March, 1966], No. 8554/67. Heading C3P. [Also in Division G2] Water-soluble polymers containing randomly repeating units of the structures and where R and R<SP>1</SP> are each H or alkyl, R<SP>11</SP> and R<SP>111</SP> are each alkyl or together form a penta- or hexatomic heterocyclic ring are made by addition copolymerization of suitable monomers. In preparations 1-9, acrylamide is polymerized with N-acryloyl-morpholine, N- acryloyl-piperidine, N-acryloyl-pyrrolidine, N:N dimethylcrotonamide, N :N - diethylacrylamide, and N :N - dibutylacrylamide; polymerization is effected in acetone/methanol or ethanol in the presence of azobisisobutyronitrile.
