Abstract

1,172,282. Footwear cleaning apparatus. F. U. HERMIDA. 21 Feb., 1967, No. 8192/67. Heading A4F. [Also in Division A3] A last for supporting a shoe during cleaning comprises a pair of articulated arms 1, 7 each with a member 9, 16 which are fitted into the shoe, and means to prevent relative rotation of the arms when the members are tightly holding the shoe. One arm 1 is fixed to a wall support 3 and has a heel-shaped member 16 pivotally connected to its lower end. The member 16 may be covered with plastics or elastic 17. The arm 7 has a toe-shaped member 9 at one end and a handle 8 at the other. A pawl and ratchet mechanism 10, 11 holds the arms in their extended position. A lever 12 is provided to disengage the pawl and ratchet mechanism.
