1,172,225. Ventilating buildings. R. A. LYCETT (CONSTRUCTIONAL ENGINEERS) Ltd. 30 Dec., 1966 [30 Dec., 1965], No. 55172/65. Heading F4V. Ventilation means for an agricultural, horticultural or livestock building comprise a shutter unit guided for sliding rectlinear movement relative to air apertures in a wall or roof of a building and operated by a reversible motor mounted on the building structure. As shown in Figs. 2 and 3, spaced shutters 1 coupled by a bar 2 control vertical apertures 4 in a side wall of the building. The shutters are operated by an electric motor 7 through belt gearing 9 and screw-and-nut mechanism 10, 14, the nut 14 being secured to one of the shutters and the screw 10 and motor 7 being supported on the fixed structure. Alternatively, the motor may operate through rack-and-pinion mechanism, or through an eccentric or through lever-and-pulley mechanism. The electric motor may be replaced by an hydraulic or pneumatic motor and may be controlled by a thermostat, humidistat or a time switch. Specification 904,731 is referred to.
