Abstract

1,172,137. Reciprocating pumps. ALFRED TEVES G.m.b.H. Oct.4, 1967 [Jan. 5, 1967], No.45247/67. Heading F1A. A swash plate pump of adjustable output comprises pistons 5 reciprocated in a stationary cylinder block by a rotating swash plate 2, the pistons having by-pass ports 17 controlled by axially adjustable rods 11, so that at the beginning of the delivery stroke, the delivery is by-passed from cylinders 7 via piston grooves 25, ports 17, and the piston bores to the swash plate chamber until ports 17 are closed by rods 11, delivery then taking place via delivery valves 9 to an outlet 10. Rods 11 pass through the inlet valves 8 of the cylinders, and are axially adjusted in the embodiment shown by rotation of a handwheel 12, which acts through gears 13 to rotate a shaft 14 on which a rod carrier 15 is threaded. In the Fig. 2 embodiment (not shown), the output is automatically adjusted by the delivery pressure acting on differential areas of a spring-loaded hollow shaft connected to the rod carrier, the spring- loading being adjustable.
