Abstract

1,171,583. Cartridge cases. SATELLITE ENG. Ltd., and B. H. HOOK. 12 Jan., 1968, No. 1762/68. Heading F3A. Cartridge case, e.g., of metal or synthetic resin, comprising a recess 15 for a primer, a flash passage 30 and an annular extraction rim 20 surrounding a circular boss 14. In a modification (Fig. 6, not shown), the boss is stepped and the extraction rim does not extend beyond the diameter of the case. The extraction rim, whose radially outer periphery may be milled, is secured by cutting a notch 31 in the base of the case and swaging or peening that part which is radially outwardly of the notch, over the edge of the extraction rim. The primer may be fixed simultaneously in the recess 15 by turning a marginal portion of the bottom of the base over the edge of the primer.
