Abstract

1,170,627. Drying timber. WESTAIR DYNAMICS Ltd. 8 May, 1968 [25 May, 1967], No. 24389/67. Heading F4G. [Also in Division D1] A method of drying timber comprises circulating air at a temperature of 70-130‹ F. around the timber, moisture being removed from the circulating air by a dehumidifier of the refrigerated type. The dehumidifier comprises an evaporator coil which cools the air to condense the moisture therefrom, a condenser coil to heat the air, a compressor to pump the refrigerant and a pressure reducing valve. The relative humidity of the air drying the timber may be maintained constant or may vary during the process.
