Abstract

1,169,878. Gas/liquid contact apparatus. NORTON CO. 19 Dec., 1966 [20 Dec., 1965; 17 Oct., 1966], No. 56774/66. Heading B1R. A liquid distributor for distributing liquid supplied thereto over packing in a packed gas/liquid contact column, comprises a plate 22 with a peripheral upstanding flange and a plurality of openings each surrounded by a notched riser 20 through which liquid overflows from the plate onto shallow pans 35 located below each opening and from which liquid flows onto the packing. The bottom of each pan may be perforated. In a modification an additional riser for the upward passage of gas passes through the bottom of each pan and passes concentrically within the risers 20.
