Abstract

1,168,128. Power cables. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 28 Sept., 1967 [30. Sept., 1966], No. 44225/67. Heading H1A. A power cable comprises two or more concentric layers of rubber and/or plastics insulation, e.g. butyl rubber and/or polyethylene, the innermost layer being vulcanized, e.g. by the addition of peroxides or by irradiation and the outer layers being unvulcanized. Vulcanized or unvulcanized semi-conducting layers may be arranged between the conductor and the innermost insulation layer, and between the outermost insulation layer and an external covering. The vulcanized insulation may be less than 50% of the total insulation thickness.
