Abstract

1,167,377. Shirred casings. VISKASE Ltd. 28 May, 1968 [3 June, 1967], No. 15172/67. Heading A2B. Shirred casings are supported on a hollow former, which may engage over the stuffing horn of a sausage machine, the former being a frictional fit within a shirred casing whereby the casing is restrained from decompressing or sliding off the former. One end of the former may be flared, and a piece of adhesive tape may be provided at the other end to secure the casing. The former may be of a plastics material, and may either be perforated and contain a removable core of moisture containing absorbent material, or it may itself be absorbent.
