Abstract
1,166,896. D - Ribulose and D - xylulose. KYOWA HAKKO KOGYO CO. Ltd. 12 April, 1967 [13 April, 1966], No. 16727/67. Heading C2C. D-Ribulose and D-xylulose are produced by culturing a micro-organism Brevibacterium NOV. SP. No. 12-6 ATCC 21049 or Corynebacterium NOV. SP. No. 22-23 ATCC 21050 in an aqueous nutrient medium containing at least one source of carbon under aerobic conditions. Culturing is preferably effected at 20-46‹ C. at a pH of 5À0-9À0.Suitable carbon sources are mono- and di-saccharides. The required products may be isolated from the fermentation liquor by ion-exchange treatment.
