Abstract

1,165,862. Air swirlers for burners. JAPAN, NATIONAL AEROSPACE LABORATORY OF SCIENCE and TECHNOLOGY AGENCY, DIRECTOR OF. 21 March, 1968 [3 Oct., 1967], No. 13819/68. Heading F4T. An air swirler 1 for a burner has vanes 2, an inner vane-supporting ring 3, a flow restriction or control ring 4, a seat for the fuel injector 9 and an outer ring provided with a flange 7 for fitting the assembly which ring supports the tips of the vanes. Small notches or holes 5, in the neighbourhood of the junction between rings 3 and 4 and circumferentially spaced, prevent the accumulation of carbon deposit on the rings. A modified arrangement, Fig. 7, includes a primary air pipe 18 for atomizing air, a secondary air duct 19 and a fuel duct 10, the length and width of the flame being adjusted by changing the size of the controlling ring 4.
