Rotary and wire brushes; bristles, fixing; brush stocks.-A cylindrical or other shaped brush particularly adapted for cleaning gun barrels is formed with tufts of wire or other bristles held between separators which are mounted on a central core and are secured between end plates which have full thickness edges, the inner part being undercut to produce an edge-gripping action. Fig. 1 shows a brush in which the tufts 20 are provided with collars 21 having recesses therein. The bristle tufts are set in spacing plates 24 notched round the periphery to receive the collars 21, the notches corresponding in position to the recesses in the separators 16. The separators are held between a fixed end plate 13 on the stock and a washer end plate 14 held up by a nut 17. Both the end plates are undercut as shown at 15. A flange 28 may be employed on one separator to keep the brush central in use. When wooden separators are employed, spurs may be formed on the tuft collars to hold them in place.
