Abstract

1,164,356. Alpha-cyanoacrylate pastes. F. LEONARD and G. BRANDES. 2 Oct., 1967 [10 Oct., 1966], No. 44825/67. Heading C3P. A settable paste comprises at least one liquid α-cyanoacrylate and a solid water-insoluble filler, which is not an organic polymer. The α- cyanoacrylate may be a monomer of formula H 2 C = C(CN)-COOR, where R is an alkyl which may be substituted, a C 1-4 alkoxy, a cyclohexyl or an allyl radical, and may contain S0 2 by virtue of its method of preparation. The filler may be calcium carbonate or sulphate, or barium carbonate and/or amorphous silica. The pastes may be used as underwater adhesives.
