Abstract

116,432. Greenland, H. F. A. Oct. 1, 1917. Shaft couplings; securing wheels &c. on shafts. -In yielding couplings for connecting shafts or for connecting wheels &c. to shafts in printing machinery, motor-vehicles, &c. and also applicable to brake drums, links F, secured to laterally spaced rings H on a drum C on one shaft, have slots H engaging rollers J<1> on pins J in another series of rings L secured to the other shaft. Springs M are secured in suitable holes O<1>, 0', or O<3> in diametrically opposed links and permit slip of the driven member until the rollers J' engage the slot-ends. Where the coupling is used for connecting a shaft to a drum loose thereon, separate springs are provided for each link and are connected at their inner ends to a ring loose on or secured to a casing fast on the shaft.
