Abstract

1,163,965. Filter with water sensitive safety device. BOWSER, Inc. 13 Dec., 1966, No. 55798/66. Heading B1D. A inward flow filter element with a water sensitive safety device for terminating the filtering operation comprises a filtering cotton sock 56, a longitudinal passage 58 for removal of filtered liquid, an outlet orifice 61, and the safety device which includes a poppet 78 movable into sealing engagement at 60 with the outlet orifice, a spring 80 for biasing the poppet towards the orifice, a paper trigger element 95 sensitive to the presence of moisture and tearable to effect release of said poppet when exposed to moisture, and mounting means 78 for the safety device having a conical recess 77 for facilitating alignment of the filter element.
