Abstract

1,163,687. Clamps. J. E. DORRIS. 8 May, 1968, No. 21815/68. Heading E2B. A clamp and support device comprises a first clamping member 40 having a pair of jaw members 50, 51 Fig. 1 and a sleeve 44 integral therewith; a second clamping member 20 having a jaw member 22 and a threaded shaft 21 on which latter the first clamping member is slidably mounted, the clamping members being retained in clamping engagement with a beam 90 by means of a nut 33; and a support means (105), Fig. 12 (not shown) secured to and depending from the clamping members. As shown in Fig. 9 the support means is an apertured web 91 and in Figs. 12 and 13 (not shown) the support means is respectively a plate having a free end for supporting wires, and a T-shaped plate for supporting boards or shelving .on the edges thereof. As shownin Figs. 4 and 6, the support means is a strap member 61 or 61' which is retained on the shaft 21. The device is applicable to I-beams, H-beams, T-bars, bulb angles, channels and flanges and the position of the first clamping member may be reversed as shown in Fig. 15.
