Abstract

A coaxial cable for transmitting frequencies above 50 kc/s is made by forming the outer conductor from a very thin conducting tape or tapes having a strengthening film of plastics material, e.g. polythene, bonded to one or both sides of the or each tape . Various combinations of arrangements are described in which the film on the tape or each tape may be bonded to the dielectric of the cable and the cable may have an outer plastics sheath which may also be bonded to the film on the or each tape. All the plastics materials used may be identical.
