Abstract

1,163,450. Hydrants. SAMUEL JONES & CO. (ENG.) Ltd. Feb.14, 1968 [Jan. 18, 1967], No.2591/67. Heading F1X. [Also in Division E2] A hose nozzle is secured to a hydrant valve so that its removal is prevented except when the valve is open by a yoke 3 on a bracket 1 secured to a stationary gland casting 2 of the valve and an arm 9 dependent from a sleeve 7 rotatable on the spindle 8 of the valve and abutting valve handle 11 so that the valve is screwed down and closed the nozzle 12 is retained in position between the yoke and arm. The arm 9 has a projecting pin 10 which engages in a recess in a guide boss 4 in the bracket to maintain the arm and yoke aligned. The clamp is released manually when the valve is opened or it is released automatically by a spring between the sleeve and valve gland nut or by a pin on the spindle engaging the sleeve.
