1,163,386. Aerials; radio signalling. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGSG.m.b.H. 11 March, 1968 [4 April, 1967], No. 11682/68. Headings H4A and H4L. An arrangement for providing radio communication to a station inside a tunnel or shaft with an absorptive wall comprises a coaxial cable which has a longitudinally extending slot in its outer conductor and which is mounted to extend longitudinally along said wall, the slot facing away from the wall. As described, the inner conductor 1 of the cable is an aluminium or copper wire and the outer conductor 2 is of foil of the same material. The slot 4 may occupy 25% of the outer circumference of the cable. Insulation 3 between the conductors is of polythene and a filling for the slot, and an outer covering 5 are also of polythene. The cable is supported by means of clamps 6, 7 which are held together by a clip or clamp 8 and are anchored to the wall 9. The radiated field is essentially polarized in the direction of the cable.
