Abstract

1,163,336. Submerged structure for offshore operations; wells. MOBIL OIL CORP. 5 Dec., 1966 [10 Dec., 1965], No. 54333/66. Headings E1F and E1H. A submerged system for producing oil and/ or gas from submerged wells the respective wellheads 10 of which are located adjacent the sea bed comprises a satellite 12 on the sea bed near the wells and which can be hoisted to the surface for maintenance or repair, fluid flowlines 14 connecting each well to the satellite 12, a shipping line 60 connecting the satellite to a storage facility which may be either afloat or ashore and means comprising at least a portion of each fluid flowline 14 and the shipping line 60 for allowing the satellite 12 to be hoisted to the surface from the sea bed without disconnecting the flowline and the shipping line. Each fluid flowline 14 consists of a rigid leadline 16 and a flexible hose 20. The flowlines from the submerged wells may be connected to satellite 12 around its entire periphery or may be connected to the satellite in an area not extending more than half way around the satellite.
