1,162,640. Sandwich-toasting device. A. TRAUTMANN. 26 April, 1968 [19 May, 1967], No. 19933/68. Heading A4D. A device for toasting sandwiches comprises two holders 1, 2 pivotable about a hinge 3 and each containing an electric hotplate in the surface of which is a depression 9 to receive a slice of bread and containing further depressions 11, 12, 13 arranged concentrically. In use, a sandwich is made in one holder and the other holder is then closed on top. The channel 14 prevents fat escaping from the device. The surfaces 8 have a non-stick plastics coating. Current is supplied via the socket 5 and the conductor 6. The device may be used as an open grill as shown, in which case it is supported on a level surface by a knob 15 and legs 21.
