1,162,403. Discharge lamp fittings. BRITISH LIGHTING INDUSTRIES Ltd. 5 April, 1968 [30 Jan., 1967], No. 4443/67. Heading F4R. [Also in Division H1] A lighting unit comprises a metal iodide discharge lamp and means for rotating or oscillating the lamp about the axis of its electrodes to reduce the temperature gradient over the surface of the lamp. The lamp may be single or double ended and of tubular or spherical form and the driving means may be a selfstarting synchronous electric motor connected to the lamp by a flexible belt. The lamp may rotate on its contact pins at a speed of 1-3 R.P.M.
