Abstract

1,161,875. Heat exchange method. ELECTRIC REDUCTION CO. OF CANADA Ltd. 24 Nov., 1966 [13 Sept., 1965], No. 38962/65. Heading F4S. A method of heat exchange between two liquids, one of which is highly viscous, comprises passing said highly viscous liquid through heat exchanger flow channels, the surfaces of which are hydrodynamically rough, the viscous liquid being one having a Prandtl number (defined in the Specification) of at least 30; polyalkylene glycol being preferred. The flow channels are tubes in which the liquid flow is such as to achieve a Reynolds number (defined in the Specification) in the range 2500 to 4000. The hydrodynamically rough surfaces have an equivalent sand roughness (defined in the Specification) of between 0À026 and 0À60.
