Abstract

1,159,940. Plasticizing vinylidene chloride polymers. KUREHA KAGAKU KOGYO K.K. 30 Dec., 1966 [30 Dec., 1965], No. 58278/66. Heading C3P. Shaped articles for packaging food are prepared from a polymer of vinylidene chloride or a copolymer thereof having vinylidene chloride as the principal constituent, a non-toxic stabilizer, a natural or synthetic rubber and as plasticizer less than 20% based on the weight of polymer of a polyester formed from an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid having a C 2 -C 10 alkylene group and a C 2 -C 8 polyol and having an average molecular weight of 1,000-8,000. The chain ends of the polyester may be hydroxyl carboxyl or ester groups, the latter formed from monocarboxylic acids or monohydric alcohols. The vinylidene chloride may be copolymerized with other monomers, examples refer to vinylidene chloride vinyl chloride and vinylidene chloride-vinyl chloride-monobutyl itaconate copolymers. Also present may be a bis-phenol A-epichlorhydrin polycondensate or a butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymer.
