A mortar for bonding structural units containing bituminous binders is made by incorporating an aqueous emulsion of a terpolymer of 40-75 wt. per cent C 1 -C 18 alkyl acrylate, 25-60% styrene and 0.5 to 6% acrylic acid in a mix of sand, Portland cement in a volume ratio between 1 : 2 and 1 : 9 to the sand, and water.
