Abstract

1,158,687. Thermal storage heaters. G. BAUKNECHT G.m.b.H. 15 Aug., 1967 [17 Aug., 1966], No. 37471/67. Heading F4U. A electrically heated thermal storage heater has a thermally insulating casing at least part of which is movable to allow the formation of an air outlet opening from the heater. As illustrated, a side wall 4 of the heater is pivotable about its lower edge 15 to provide an air outlet 17 and an air inlet 22 in addition to a permanent inlet 24. In its closed position the wall 4 contacts the storage core 6 to shut off passages 14. A screen 25 moves with the wall 4 and is arranged to limit the movement of the wall. In another embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), the wall is bodily movable in a direction perpendicular to its plane. In a further embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the wall is formed by a plurality of simultaneously pivotable louvres which in their closed position are spaced from the storage core. The movable wall may be automatically controlled in dependence on temperature or time. An air flow control valve may be provided to contact the flow of air through the outlet or outlets.
