Abstract
1,158,506. Switch control means for toy vehicle electric motors. REPUBLIC TOOL & MFG. CORP. 29 Sept., 1967 [12 May, 1967], No. 44595/67. Heading A6S. The circuit means for energizing the electric driving motor of a toy vehicle, which vehicle contains a supporting structure for the motor and a battery, includes a spring contact carried by the supporting structure and being normally urged into engagement with an electrical terminal of the battery, and manually operable means for moving and holding said contact out of engagement with the battery terminal to interrupt the motor energizing circuit. In the embodiment illustrated (Figs. 1 and 5) an electric driving motor 13 is mounted at the rear end of the frame structure 10 with its driving shaft 14 extending transversely of the vehicle and making frictional engagement with the driving wheel 11 via sleeve 15 which contacts the perimeter of the wheel. The casing of the battery 23 connects with one terminal 19 (Fig. 3 not shown) of the motor via finger 18 which is part of a conducting bracket 16 which carries the motor and which also comprises extension 21 which contacts the battery casing, and side fingers 17 which help retain the motor. An electrical connection is established between battery terminal 26 and the other motor terminal 27 by means of a flexible, conducting strip 28 comprising body portion 29 and end portions 30 and 31 (and 31a) and positioned in groove 34 to prevent longitudinal movement of the strip; projections 37, 39, and 41 maintaining the strip in the configuration shown (Fig. 1) with portions 30 and 31a in contact with terminals 27 and 26. To disengage extension 31a from battery terminal 26 projection 50 (Fig. 5) of the non- conducting slide member 47 is moved manually in the direction shown to cause projection 48 of member 47 to move between and separate extension 31a and terminal 26, the operation being reversed to make the motor energizing circuit.
