Abstract

1,158,087. Printing from developed electrostatic images. RANK XEROX Ltd. 23 Jan., 1968 [23 Jan., 1967], No. 3434/68. Heading B6C. [Also in Division G2] A transparency is made by forming an unfixed developed electrostatic image, transferring the image to a transparent base provided with thin conducting layer which is subsequently removed by chemical treatment. In an example, a developed image is prepared using developer comprising glass balls coated with nitro cellulose as the carrier and carbon mixed with polystyrene as toner. Polyethylene terephthalate film vacuum evaporation coated with aluminium on one side was brought into close contact with the developed image to transfer the developed image to the uncoated side. The aluminium coating was then dissolved by sodium hydroxide to obtain a transparency. Polycarbonate, polyethylene or polyvinyl chloride may be used in place of polyethylene terephthalate.
