In the production of a core spun yarn having an elastomeric polyurethane filament as the core, the filament is stretched 3 to 8 times its length in a heating zone at a temperature between 100 and 300‹C immediately before the core-spinning. Natural or synthetic fibres for example of polyacrylonitrile - may be spun around the core filament.
