Abstract
1,157,592. Armouring vehicles. DR. ING. h.c.F. PORSCHE, K.G. 10 Jan., 1968 [11 Feb., 1967], No. 1419/68. Heading F3C. An armoured vehicle has a bullet proof grating for covering air intake or exhaust openings which grating comprises a frame 13 detachably connected to the vehicle, as by bolts 14, and surrounding an opening, and a row of profile bars 11 screwed to the frame. A further row of profiled bars 19 are secured to the vehicle inwardly of the bars 11, the bars 19 preferably having an outwardly facing, ridged face. A row of profiled bars 20 may be provided inwardly of the bars 19, the bars 19, 20 being secured at their ends to supports 23. The ends of the supports 23 project into the wall 6 of the vehicle and are connected thereto as by a dovetail connection (Fig. 5, not shown). The profile bars 11 have a smooth outer surface and have a larger cross-sectional area 16 than the areas 17, 18 of the other profile bars 20, 19.
