Abstract

1,157,096. Bearings. GLYCO-METALLWERKE DAELEN & LOOS G.m.b.H. 22 July, 1966 [24 July, 1965], No. 33077/66. Heading F2A. A plain bearing comprises a backing and a layer 2 of synthetic resin uniformly mixed with metal powder 4, and a further layer providing the bearing surface comprising the synthetic resin free from metal. To form a bearing, a foil of polytetrafluoroethylene uniformly mixed with metal powder is secured to backing 1 with adhesive 3, and metal particles are dissolved by means of acid or alkali from the bearing surface. In use, a layer (11, Fig. 3, not shown) of resin forms on a spindle 10. Particles may be dissolved from both surfaces of the foil before mounting the layer on a back.
