Abstract

1,156,963. Chairs. REED PAPER GROUP Ltd. 1 May, 1968 [6 April, 1967], No. 15911/67. Heading A4H. A chair made of cardboard or corrugated board comprises a tubular body having at least three sidewalls 1 .... 7 hinged together and a seat panel 20, 21 hinged to one 1, 7 of the sidewalls, and further panels 8 .... 14 provided inside the tubular body for supporting the seat. The chair is made from the blank shown in Fig. 1 by folding the panels 8 .... 14 up about the double score lines 15 and both they and the seven side panels 1 .... 7 are simultaneously folded inwardly relatively to one another to form an inner and an outer tubular body with the end panels 1 and 7, and 8 and 14 in face to face relationship. The outer tubular body is upwardly divergent and the inner tubular body is upwardly convergent. A locking tab 18 is inserted in a slot 19 and the terminal panels 1, 8 and 7, 14 are slotted into each other by means of slots 17. Stabilizing flaps 26, 28 on the panels 2, 3, 5, 6 are then folded into face to face relationship with the panels 2, 3, 5, 6 and tabs 27, 29 thereon are tucked between these panels and the inner tubular member. The seat panel 21 is now folded inwardly to rest on the inner tubular member and the other seat panel 20 is then folded downwardly to rest on the seat panel 21. A locking flap 25 is now folded downwardly into face to face relationship with the panel 4 and a tab 30 thereon snaps into a slot 23 in the seat panel 20.
