Abstract

1,155,467. Mattresses. G. MANN. 10 Aug., 1966 [17 Aug., 1965], No. 35718/66. Heading A4M. A mattress includes a rollable reinforcing layer comprising spaced, parallel, rigid, thin strips (1) hingedly interconnected by overlying and underlying textile cover layers (2) or transverse tapes stitched together between adjacent strips (1). In one embodiment (Figs. 1-3) the reinforcing layer is cemented at its side edges (2<SP>1</SP>) between upper (5) and lower (4) layers of foamed rubber or plastics. Alternatively (Fig. 4), a foam body (8) rests on a stiffening layer formed as an independent unit.
