Abstract
1,155,274. Automatic voltage control systems. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. Sept.30, 1966 [Oct. 18, 1965], No.44017/65. Heading G3R. An A.C. or D.C. voltage controlled generator system having regulating contacts in series with the field winding, for charging a battery, an A.C. or D.C. generator has a voltage dependent resistor 34, having a conductance which increases with the applied voltage, connected in the system to limit the voltage across the contacts but permitting limited arcing. The resistor 34 may be connected across contacts 31, 32 or across the field winding (see Fig.2 not shown) and may be mounted in either the generator or a voltage regulator. A diode 35 and capacitor 36 having a shunting resistor 37 across either may be paralleled with resistor 34 which may have a fusible link (not shown) in series.
