1,155,084. Rotary positive-displacement pumps and motors. CONCENTRIC (ENGINEERING) Ltd. Aug.24, 1966 [Aug. 21, 1965], No. 35984/65. Heading F1F. In a rotary positive-displacement pump, or motor, of the internally-meshing gear type, radial sealing of the working spaces between an externally-toothed rotor 10, Fig. 2, and an internally-toothed rotatable ring 11 is effected by vanes 18 slidingly lodged in slots 17 within the teeth 16 of the rotor, outward radial-displacement of each vane being restricted by a lateral projection 21, Fig. 3, on the innermost end of the vane engaging with a recess 22 in the rotor, thereby preventing the rotor becoming jammed by the teeth on said ring. Chamfered edges 20 on each vane give the working fluid, especially that on the high-pressure side of the pump or motor, access to the radially-innermost end of the vane so as to press the vane towards the ring 11. It is indicated that the curved portions of the profile of each tooth are constituted by arcs of circles and that each vane may also have a channel (not shown) extending longitudinally along one side thereof wherein a blade spring is situated, which spring extends along the channel and beneath the innermost end of the vane so as to press the vane against one wall of the respective slot 17 and against the ring 11. In a second embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown), both of two intermeshing externally-toothed rotors (30, 31) have radial-sealing vanes lodged in slots within the teeth thereof.
