Abstract

1,154,610. Cutting tools. A. BRISKMAN. 27 Nov., 1967 [9 March, 1967], No. 53924/67. Heading B4B. A power-operated tool comprises a housing 14, a stationary member, e.g. pinking blade 11, engageable by a pivotally-mounted movable member, e.g. pinking blade 12, which is driven from a motor 16 by means of a worm and wormwheel 21, 22 and gears 19, 17, the gear 17 having mounted thereon a cam-wheel 31 which is selectively indexable by a pawl lever 40 for imposing an intermittent or continuous oscillating motion upon the blade 12. The gear 17 is mounted on a shaft on which is freely rotatable a sleeve 24 provided at one end with a disc 25 having a roller 27 engaging a curved slot 28 of a member 29 secured to the blade 12 and provided at the other end with a lever 26 having a pin 39. The cam-wheel. Fig. 8, comprises two long teeth 32, 33, two short teeth 34, 35 and two cam walls 36, 37 separated by a slot 38. The pin 39 may pass through slot 38 when the cam-wheel is in the position shown or be driven by either cam wall when the cam-wheel is in the position illustrated in Figs. 9 and 10 (both not shown). The pawl lever 40 has a cam 43 engageable by the nose of a pivotally-mounted trigger 45. The stroke of the trigger is limited by an axially-movable spring-loaded pushbutton 47 provided with a cut-out 49. Another spring-loaded push-button 50, Fig. 2, has a stem 51 which, when the button is pressed, abuts the back of trigger 45 and forces it into such position, Fig. 10, where finger 41 does not contact the teeth of cam-wheel 31 so that the cutting operation is continuous. At the same time, an abutment of push-button 50 operates a reversing microswitch 52. The pinking blades may be replaced by scalloping shear blades (53), Fig. 5 (not shown), scissors blades (54), Fig. 6 (not shown) or metal snips (55), Fig. 7 (not shown).
