In a demountable shelving,. rack &c., bearer members 1a are mounted on opensection uprights 1, having pairs of slots 5 in each face, by clip members 6 each having hook ends which are passed through a pair of the slots and form with the face of the upright wedge-shaped channels into which wedges 13 on assembly pieces 7, secured in the end of a member 1a, are lowered. In modifications, an assembly piece is welded to the closed end face of a bearer to extend into the channel of the upright, or the assembly piece is integral with the bearer forming an end thereof and has opposed apertures with sloping edges which co-operate with the wedge-shaped channels. In a further modification a bearer spanning the space between two uprights has punched-out hooks to engage an edge-flange of a shelf the supporting surface of which is co-planar with the bearer.
