1,152,973. Ophthalmometers. R. RODENSTOCK. March 28, 1967, No. 14000/67. Addition to 1, 067, 652. Heading G2J. In an ophthalmometer as in the parent Specification, a single test mark 32 having edge markers 33 which define its size and illuminated by a source 2 and condenser 3, is positioned on the viewing axis of the observed eye 1 there being a single collimating objective 5 and half-silvered mirror 51 between the test mark 32 and the eye 1. Rays reflected from the eye 1 are deflected by mirror 51 to the arrangement for producing apparent coincidence of the images of the edge markers, which consists of a mirror 20 reflecting the central part of the beam through an objective 21 to a recombining plate 24 where it meets the remainder of the beam which has passed through the objective 14 having the same focal length as objective 21. Mirror 20 and objective 21 are displaceable perpendicularly to the optical axis of objective 21. For measuring the curvature of a contact lens 42, it is laid on the upper surface of a prism 41 which is slid or rotated into the ray path.
