(Also in Division C2] A pharmaceutical composition comprises a compound of the structure. wherein R<SP>1</SP> is a methyl or ethyl group, R<SP>2</SP> is an unsubstituted alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl group or a halogen-substituted alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl group having 1-6 carbon atoms, R<SP>5</SP> is H or an acyl group, X is oxygen or sulphur, Z is an alkylene residue which may be unsaturated, R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> are H or C 1- C 6 alkyl but when one is alkyl the other is H and ring A has a double bond in the 4, 5 or 5(10) position. and a pharmaceutical carrier. The compositions may contain ethynyl oestradiol.
