1,152,560. N-Acylated oxaza heterocycles. DYNAMIT NOBEL A.G. 29 April, 1968 [27 April, 1967; 21 July, 1967; 5 Oct., 1967], No. 20286/68. Addition to 1,148,704. Heading C2C. Novel compounds of the general formula where n=0, 1 or 2, R=C 1-21 alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, aralkyl, R 1 and R 2 , which may be the same or different, are hydrogen or C 1-3 alkyl, R 3 and R 4 , which may be the same or different, may be hydrogen, phenyl or C 1-7 alkyl provided R 3 and R 4 together contain no more than 7 carbons and that when n=0, R 1 and R 2 are not both hydrogen, are prepared by the reaction of RCONHCHR 1 (CH 2 )nCHR 2 OH with an aldehyde or ketone containing between 1 and 8 carbon atoms, preferably in the presence of an acid catalyst or a titanate. These compounds are useful as bacteriostats, fungistats, antistatics, textile auxiliaries and lubricants for plastics.
