Abstract

1,152,532. Isomerizing alkylaromatic hydrocarbons. AMERICAN CYANAMID CO. 5 Sept., 1967 [13 Oct., 1966], No. 40577/67. Heading C5E. o- and p-Diisopropylbenzenes are isomerized to m-diisopropylbenzene, and 1-isopropylnaphthalene to 2-isopropylnaphthalene, by contact with a BF 3 -H 3 PO 4 adduct in an amount of at least 1 wt. per cent based on the starting material. A solvent, e.g. CCl 4 , may be present.
