Abstract
1,152,527. Loading and unloading vehicles; hydraulic jacks. TELEHOIST Ltd. 12 Feb., 1968 [16 Feb., 1967], No. 7428/67. Headings B8B, B8E and B8J. A vehicle with a demountable body 15 has a frame 10 which is pivotable about a shaft 11 under the action of an hydraulic jack 25 to slide the body from the vehicle. A cable 30 operated by an hydraulic jack 39 is attached to the forward end of the body to control the sliding movement and to lower the said forward end to the ground. The body is loaded onto the vehicle by attaching the cable 30 to the body 15 to raise the forward end thereof into alignment with guide rollers 40, 41 and then pull the body on its skids 20 over said rollers and along the frame. Hooks 42, 43, 44 are used to secure the body 15 to the frame 10. Hydraulic jacks 45, 46 with wheels 47, 48 are provided at the rear of the vehicle to engage the ground during loading and unloading. The jack 25 is double acting and has four stages. Hydraulic fluid is supplied to an inlet port (50), Fig. 4 (not shown), at the base of the jack and thence to a central pipe (51) leading to the top of the cylinder (53). The outer cylinder will thus rise and in turn will draw the successive cylinder until the ram is fully extended. Hydraulic fluid on the return side of the jack in the area (54) passes through ports (55) (56) (57) (58) to an annular area (59) and thence to an outlet port (60). Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification, 965,975.
