Abstract

1,152,363. Overbed tables. MINISTER OF PUBLIC BUILDING & WORKS. 6 Oct., 1966 [6 July, 1965], No. 28537/65. Heading A4H. [Also in Division E2] An overbed table having a fixed top portion 18 and a top portion 19 which is adjustable on a horizontal axis, the tops are screwed to bushes 20, 21, 22 mounted on a cantilever arm 17 which is fixed to a telescopic leg 1. The arm 17 is fixed to an outer member 3 which is telescoped relatively to an inner member 2 by rotation of a handle 13 which rotates an externally threaded spindle 9 in an internally threaded bush 7 mounted in the member 2. Bushes 21, 22 are rotatable on the arm 17 and an end plate 23 has a tooth for selective engagement in grooves in a spring-pressed plug 25 to lock the bush 22 in adjusted position. Depression of a plunger 30 overcomes the spring to allow adjustment. In modified locking arrangements inter-engaging locking members on the arm and on the top have surfaces which are moved apart, or a detent on the arm releasably engages a notched plate on the rotatable top to allow adjustment.
