1,151,801. Valves. PODMOSKOVNY GOSUDARSTVENNY PROEKTNOKONSTRUKTORSKY I EXPERIMENTALNY INSTITUT GORNOGO MASHINOSTROENIA. 23 Feb., 1967, No. 8705/67. Heading F2V. A valve for operating an hydraulic jack, e.g. a mine roof support, comprises a plunger 3 sealed to a housing bore by an elastic sealing ring 2. A second sealing ring 11 seals the plunger in a spring-biased bush 8. On supplying pressure fluid to a chamber 4, the plunger moves out of the bore into the bush 8 whereby the ring 2 is protected, the plunger first lifting a spring- biased pin 14 and then lifting the bush from a seating round the bore. The fluid passes to the prop through chambers 4 and 6 and the prop is extended. To collapse the prop, the pressure fluid is supplied through a piston chamber 17 having an outlet (not shown) to the upper end of the prop. This pressure reopens the valve through the piston 7 engaging a tail end of the plunger, and the lower end of the prop is exhausted by reverse flow through the chambers 6-4. A relief valve (21), Fig. 2 (not shown), may be connected between the chambers 5, 6. Piston 7 may be actuated manually.
