Abstract

1,151,592. Filter cartridge manufacture. APPLIED POLYMERS Ltd. 12 May, 1967 [13 May, 1966], No. 21400/66. Headings B1D and B1T (Also in Division B5] A method for the production of a hollow outside-in or inside-out flow gas or liquid filter cartridge having cured polyurethane end caps cast directly comprises metering a polyol component, a cold curing catalyst component, and a diisocyanate component for the polyurethane into a mould conforming to the shape of one end member, inserting one end of an uncapped filter member unit into the mould and curing said polyurethane while said member is in situ to provide on impermeable end cap, and repeating the operation with the other end of the filter element. The filter cartridge may be of pleated paper, felt, fibre glass or wire gauze and may be cylindrical, square or oval. It may be used for filtering oil, water or air.
